Another weekend in the Country

We spent another weekend in the small country town-
Oakley, Idaho.
The last few weekends we had gone was to prepare for Nana's memorial service and then to actually have her memorial service. With the 24th of July going on we decided we needed to have an Oakley trip that was meant for strict FUN! And we sure had fun :)
The little town lights up for a week of 24th festivities. The 24th is usually just a Utah holiday, but since
Oakley has so much pioneer history they celebrate it too!
We had so much fun!
Let me show you just how much...

First we went shopping for our country atire
Me & shelby with these...lovely hats.
The cowboy in him definitely wanted to come out...
do we look like the real thing?

Then we headed off to the lake for some lunch

Then it was time for the parade!
It was such a fun and cute parade! It was so awesome to be able to see all of the pioneer things they had!
Walking to main street
 waiting for it to begin
 the crew (minus mama)
How do you get wet at a parade? Let me tell you...
There was a fire truck that drove in the parade and as the man drove by he was lightly spraying people.. lightly.. until he saw my husband holding me and motioning over for him to spray me.. that nice man threw his truck in park and sprayed me with full blast for what seemed like forever!!
thanks honey!!

Next up.. the rodeo!
Headin' on over...
Ryan and his new buddy the sheriff!
Okay, Ryan wasn't getting hauled off to Jail..
BUT he is getting a ride back to the house to grab a wire hanger because my step dad accidently locked the keys in the car!
Thankfully they were able to get the keys out so we were all able to enjoy the show...
Yes, as you can see.. we are all wearing plaid shirts! I think we were pretty much the most styling family there!

After the rodeo they had a firework show!
We were right under them, and I am serious! They were so close it was amazing!
After the show we went home and roasted mallows!

It was a great weekend, in a great town, in a great home, and with great people!
Some other moments were spent...
finding chickens in the local store...
lots of playing time with Hunter...
Ryan washing sweetie after she rolled in cow and horse poop.
and finding Declo's first school where my little Nana once taught.
We sure do love Oakley and love making countless memories up there!

Oh, one more event...
This picture was taken right before my mom and step dads house almost blew up!
On our way home we stopped at Walmart to find some last minute fireworks. Ryan found one that shot off ten aerials. My sister and her friend found a few fountains and sparklers.
We headed home so we could light these babies off! It was sprinkling and a little windy, but we were determined to light them! First Ryan lit the fountains and they were just beautiful! For the finale he lit the aerials and ummm.. they blew over and shot at the house, all the cars and all of us!!!
I just remember running and hiding behind the cars as I waited for something to go up in flames!
It was SO SCARY! Luckily since everything was wet nothing caught on fire!
We were really lucky.

Well I hope you all had a great 24th as well!
XO
