First Smile!

At Karsten's four month appointment they handed us a paper of the milestones that a typical four month old should have reached. We obviously knew that Karsten would not be anywhere near those milestones, but we couldn't help but read them and get excited about what would be happening with him soon. On his two month paper it had smiling listed on it and his four month paper had laughing listed. We knew we were closer to the two month list because right now Karsten's corrected age is three months behind his actual age. We knew his smile would be coming soon!

On January 28th Karsten showed us his first smile. It wasn't a smile from gas or a smile from testing out those face muscles. It was a real actual responding smile! When I got home from work that day I took Karsten into our room to put him down for a nap. We laid in bed for a while talking and snuggling when I noticed he kept giving me a little smirk. I called for Ryan and he grabbed his phone and started recording. We were able to catch his first big smile and I couldn't help but laugh and cry all at once. We had been waiting to see that smile for so long and that day had finally arrived!

I may be biased, but I think he has the cutest smile ever. I love watching this video over and over again. He is such a happy baby and is now always smiling at us. He loves it most when we dance and sing and act crazy, so naturally that's what we do pretty much all day with him!

We love you Karsten and that big toothless grin of yours!
