Our little guy has been on lock down since day one. He has never gone out to run errands with us, he's never gone to church, he wasn't able to go out on walks for a long time and he hasn't really met a lot of people outside of his little family.
Karsten was a micro-preemie and because of that he has had to be extra careful because he is more susceptible to catching a cold, croup or RSV. Every month he gets a special shot to help prevent him from catching RSV and in the unlikely hood (or so we thought) that he did catch it, it would lessen the severity of it.
With our best efforts aside, Karsten caught croup and then it turned into RSV. Thanks to his monthly dose he didn't get it as severe as it could have been. We are so thankful for that. Thanks to his Daddy who knew that we needed to take him in, we were able to catch it early on.
He was on steroids for four days and has been on breathing treatments every three hours. He has recovered fully and is back to his happy little self!
I am thankful that this sickness is behind us and I am praying that he doesn't catch anything anytime soon because sick babies are so sad. Watching your babe have to go through all of that is not a good feeling. It broke my heart every time I would have to listen to him cough and cry.
So RSV, please stay away.
