One Week!

At 6:44pm this little guy turned exactly one week old! 

He was able to celebrate with a very eventful day! 

Early this morning they did an ultrasound of his head to check for bleeding and other major difficulties. The tech didn't find anything serious, but we need to wait for the results to really know. He sat very still with a little help from Daddy. He did a great job!

During rounds (where the team comes together to go over current testing, results and the next steps) they decided to take out his PICC line (basically an IV). This is a huge step because it means he doesn't need to get any nutrients from an IV and can now get it all in his feeding tube or by mouth. They pulled it out in the evening and although he was very upset he did a great job tolerating it! I sat and held his head and legs to comfort him and while I did, he reached his little hand up and held on to me.

The nurses let Daddy pick out Karsten's new bedding and we hung up his name banner. All of the nurses walking by would pop their heads in and comment on his cute room. It's his home for the next few months so we have to make it a cute one! 

We ended our very long day with a good father and son snuggle session.

And Mommy couldn't help but join in. I think we all could feel the exhaustion of the busy day we had! 

I love this little family of mine and I am so very thankful everyday that they are mine. I love my boys. I love the way that sounds, "my boys". 

I'll never get tired of saying that.
