November 20th was a special day. It was the day we had waited for, the day we had prayed for. It was the day we welcomed home our sweet Karsten James Scott.
As soon as we walked through our door I took Karsten into his nursery. I swaddled him in one of his many homemade blankets and rocked him to sleep in his rocking chair. It was an amazing feeling to know that his nursery wasn't just an unused empty room, but that it would now be used and occupied every single day. It was the best feeling.
That day Ryan and I enjoyed snuggling Karsten at home, all day long. We didn't have visitors that day because we wanted to enjoy our little family. We finally felt complete. It felt like a whole weight had been lifted off of our shoulders. We were experiencing all of the firsts all over again, but this time at home.
We were finally able to introduce Karsten to his puppy siblings. They had been introduced to the smell of him on his clothes during the past few weeks which made for an easier transition. They loved him right away.
It was a perfect day. It was quiet without dings from machines and it was cozy in our little home with our little family.
Our first night home was exhausting, but wonderful. As soon as I heard him squirming around I would wake up and pick him up. I loved waking up to his sweet face. The night was wonderful, but the morning was my favorite. We were awake as a family as the sun came up that morning. We sat and snuggled all morning long. It was everything that I had ever wanted, but it was more than I could have dreamed of.
Welcome home my Darling, welcome home.
