This morning around 1:00am Ryan and I woke up to Karsten screaming. It was a different cry than usual and we could tell he was in pain. We immediately checked his old hernia spot and found it looking normal, but the other side was swollen. Ryan immediately called the NICU and luckily one of the amazing doctors was still there are told us to come in.
Ryan drove safely, but quickly to get us there. The doctor met us and he was able to reduce the swelling of the hernia, but this doesn't mean it's gone forever.
Karsten will now need surgery on the right side where a new hernia has begun. He will need it quickly due to the size and everything which means we are looking at surgery in the next couple of days.
The good news is they are going to hopefully have the same team that was with him last time. We are praying for a speedy recovery so that we can be back home quickly!
